Warbirds

I flew heading eastwards into German territory, high above the trenches. I could see them snaking out below me, from one end to the horizon to the other. It always gave me a bit of an uneasy feeling to fly over enemy side, even if it was something we did pretty routinely. My squadron had been patrolling over the frontlines to intercept German bomber squadrons attempting to attack our positions. I was an accomplished french ace who had flown countless times over the front. Talented and adept at aerial combat, countless planes shot down, and an accomplished squadron to command. We felt that we were absolutely up to the task ahead. There was little going on during our flight, we were looping in a large oval across no man's land, constantly on the lookout for a German formation. Their fighters usually didn’t even bother to fly over our territory; only their bombers would try to sting through. Flying high and in a tight formation, hoping to evade us. And there! Off in the distance and...

The Knight & Princess

We had been travelling for days, it was a dull journey, they always were. The princess, who was my current ward, was sheltered and naive. She had been reading a book for most of the journey, thankfully, I did not think I could deal with an endless conversation with her. Still, it was the job, as tedious as it was. I hunched over, my sword resting against my shoulder, the carriage comes to a screeching halt and the princess hardly bats an eye at it as she reads. I on the other hand knew something was up, my companions were not going to just stop in the middle of nowhere, and then I heard a voice. A shrill demand for coin and I was for once roused from my stupor. I burst out of the carriage sword in hand. To my disappointment it really was just bandits, unwashed peasants. About six, unarmored, with mostly spears and the odd sword. A pointless task, a thankless one. My scars ached, I felt old. I mostly felt angry at this endless need for fighting, none of it with any merrit anymore....

The Forest

Korē was leading a detachment of warriors on a patrol along the extreme eastern border of the Empire. The Naga and Lisard folk had been raiding into the empire with increasing frequency, patrols had reduced that attack, but a presence had needed to be maintained. Her unit was lightly armed and armoured, the muggy heat making it difficult to patrol in full gear, a few hundred warriors slowly made their way though the unkept roads of the borders. Without warning Korē feels a sharp pain in her neck, her hand instinctively slapping at the pain. She sees in her hand a tiny spider dead and curled up. She has no time to think before she feels her limbs becoming heavy, her eyes widening as her body collapses under her, falling onto her side on the dirt road.  Fully paralysed she watches as chaos breaks out in her formation, Horse sized spiders barrel into them at speed, cashing them to scatter. Many break and attempt to flee into the trees just to become tangled in masses of webs st...

The War Queen

The War Queens invasion had been a failure. She had not expected the southern forces to have been so organised and disciplined. They had only managed to raid a few towns before being confronted by the main force, her own troops had not been disciplined enough to not engage them The battle was short, a headlong assault had been repelled and retreat cut off as it fell apart. Ending with the Queen and a large portion of her army captured. Dragged to the capital those she had sort to terrorise now parading her like a trophy. They took her out of the group, followed by a number of her warriors, each one well built and attractive as they were taken to the arena. She tried to struggle against the guards, but it was far too late to get free now. A vial is pressed to her lips as she is forced to drink the contents, burning as it goes down her throat. The effects are near immediate, her and her companions start to feel groggy and uncoordinated. The attendants waste no time in stripping the...

The Battle

They had been travelling for days through hostile territory, there had been very little here. The odd abandoned castle and town, but really nothing substantial. Even so it had all been empty, they had not seen anyone since the invasion started.  The army had split it two, in the hopes of finding the enemy and forcing a decisive battle. A scout had just arrived, having failed to find the other half of their forces. It had been like they had just vanished. Ulphia had been marching her troops for days, following the last command she was given. Night was falling, but the scouts had found a place for them to set up camp not too far ahead. They had just passed through a narrow valley, a good place for an ambush, but with no sighting of the enemy it had been passed through cautiously, but there was no real surprise when they passed through it successfully, the army collectively sighing with relief. The army was in three parts. Up front were the cavalry, mostly medium to heavily arm...

The Super Heroine

Nova panted heavily, she had finally gotten the upper hand on her opponent. Obsidian was trying to pull herself to her feet, but the battle had been hard and the fight was out of her as a Dominion enforcement team arrived. Nova had intended to be gone before them, but Obsidian had put up one hell of a fight.  Orb drones were already scanning the area, neon light coating the area as they started to catalogue and record. A hovership thrummed into place above them with a pair of suppressor frames dropped onto the rooftop near her, they should be able to take care of Obsidian now she was weakened.  To her surprise they instantly raised weapons to her, seeing the laser dots appear on her outfit as she half raised her hands. “Meta Human, comply, submit to arrest and restraint, compliance is mandatory, restraint is mandatory” the robot barks at her as she raises her hands unsure what has gotten into them. “Hey come on, you want Obsidian not me, this is all some big mix up” she...

The Change, (Early story Draft)

Varka slipped into Selenyra room, her tall leather boots echoing on the stone floor as much as she may try and keep quiet. She was a tall woman with deep red hair cropped short, her body was musclebound and scarred, she carried herself  with confidence as she strode over to the chair Selenyra was sitting in, trying and failing to be quiet as she moved.  Selenyra moves her book out of the way as Varka slides onto her lap, legs dangling over the arm of the chair. Selenyra was much smaller than her lover, but not to a normal person. She wraps an arm around her as Varka leans into her. She whispers into her ear “what is wrong my Trousse?” Varka squirms a little, the name always seemed, so humiliating. She sighed and tried to nuzzle closer into Selenyra, she always made her feel submissive for reasons she never figured out. Selenyra’s voice was firmer this time, “Tell me”. Varka hated telling her things, she just wanted to forget it. She quietly starts to explain, Selenyra li...
